About the Team

James J. Biles is Director of In Situ and a faculty member at the City University of New York. His work attempts to incorporate the experiences of those excluded from prevailing models of development while highlighting the place-specific practices and strategies that people employ for the purposes of improving livelihoods.He earned his undergraduate degree in Urban and Environmental Studies at Ohio University and his Ph.D. in Economic Geography at Michigan State University (2001).

Alejandro Andrade supervises projects and leads strategic collaborations. He earned his MPA at The City College of New York. Alejandro brings over ten years of experience in the private and public sectors and past working experiences include the NYC Department of Small Business Services, Blue Ridge Labs @ Robin Hood, and the Mexican Consulate in New York. He is a former Colin Powell Graduate Fellow and United Nations University Junior Professional Fellow.
